In order to provide a safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly transport system to meet recreational needs of the community, MLAL proposed a 1.5m New Bridge to replace the old Wang Tong River Bridge at Mui Wo. Higher capacity could be achieved; meanwhile, congestion problem could be eased.

In response to Revised Concept Plan for Lantau 2007, this project aims to balance economic and infrastructure development in Lantau without damaging the natural, rural environment. Three existing Mountain Bike Trails would be improved to enhance safety and riding quality; and minimize user conflicts.
